Lake Martha Association MeetingApril 8, 1992 7:00P.M.MinutesMeeting was called to order 7:20PM. Steve passed around an attendance sheet. Prior month’s minutes were read and accepted. Treasurer’s report was read by Al and accepted. OLD BUSINESS Ray L. updated everyone on what has taken place so far with the lake restoration project.
Afterwards we discussed oxygen levels, which were down to 2PPM in January, but due to the sunny weather and early ice-out open water, we were back up to 7PPM. Because of this there wasn't much of a fish kill. We then discussed weeds, which were still there but seem to be stifled. Herbicide use was discouraged because it could affect the treatment, but mechanical harvesting was okay. If you cut off the tops it didn't disturb the bottom. Jerry motioned that we apply for general weed - cutting permit. Frank seconded the motion carried. There was some discussion on planning how financing of the re-treatment of the lake in 5 to 10 years but it was decided to discuss that at a later date. New business The rake boats need work. They need to be pulled out of the water and one engine needs to be repaired or replaced. Yard fertilizers were discussed. It was suggested that anyone wanting to fertilize should use a fertilizer with zero phosphate phosphorus. Frank said that he had checked with centra-soda and he could get some but need to have order in bulk. There was enough interest so that he said he'd order some. We then discussed annual dues. It was suggested that participants in the restoration project be exempt from 1992 dues. But we eventually decided against it. Sarah motioned to keep 1992 dues to $25. John seconded motion carried. Ray Bauer suggested we look into joining a slate of Tri-County lake association or lobbying group for Lakeshore owners. Ray and Dan fromp volunteered to look into it. We also talked about having a couple of members attend the seminar on late lake weeds and milfoil on 5-30. Frank, Lance, and Dave said they could possibly go but ould have to check their schedules. We discussed having the association pay the $12 fee for this seminar. But no decision was made Sarah warned us to watch out for phony American Cancer Society collectors. The next meeting was set up for May 15th. Gary Anderson asked about having gravel hauled into the boat landing because it's getting pretty soft. Steve said he'd call the DNR. Dave motioned for adjournment, Lance seconded. Meeting was adjourned at 9:15. Update Before the next meeting: State lake association and lobbying group: Nothing done yet. Dan will look into it for the next meeting. Dues $25 Sharon passed out DNR pamphlet on Milfoil Ray gave an update on the third phase: 2 barrels of iron left for anyone. Weeds are growing, good now. Del says that clarity will get a little worse (4-5ft) before it improves. Weeds are still slower than normal but total effect on weeds won't be known until next year. Ray thinks we should hold on to funds for now until we know exactly how much we will collect. |
